Despite the share crash and profit warning: the appreciation of passengers continues unabated. The Lufthansa Group has been voted “Best Airline in Europe” and “Best Western European Airline” for the third time in a row and ranks 9th among the top 10 airlines in the world. The prize was awarded on 18 June by the market research institute Skytrax at the Paris Air Show.
Austrian Airlines and SWISS each received one of the coveted awards, while Austrian received the award for its catering in Premium Economy Class – “Best Premium Economy Class Onboard Catering” – and Swiss for its outstanding SWISS Lounge in Zurich in the category “The Worlds Best First Class Lounge”.
Skytrax, the market research institute specialising in aviation, had previously surveyed some 20 million passengers from more than 160 countries around the world and said it was both an honour and an incentive to be awarded four prizes by customers. The cabin, cockpit and ground staff in particular could be proud of this. Harry Hohmeister, Member of the Executive Board of the Lufthansa Group, said that the Lufthansa Group continued to consistently focus on innovation. Lufthansa, SWISS and Austrian had launched the biggest product offensive of all time and invested a further 2.5 billion euros in new seats in all classes, in a significantly larger lounge offering and in the expansion of digital services.

The survey was conducted by the market research institute Skytrax. The survey evaluated the offers on board as well as the services of the airlines at the airports. Skytrax has been conducting the annual passenger survey since 1999. All the detailed results of the World Airlines Awards can be found at www.worldairlineawards.com
