Since 24 April – four weeks before the election of the European Parliament – an Airbus A320 has been carrying a call for European elections on its fuselage instead of the usual Lufthansa lettering: “SayYesToEurope“.

In addition to the German flag, which is painted on the rear part of the aircraft fuselage alongside the registration of the aircraft, the European flag will in future also be visible on all aircraft. Lufthansa is thus committed to a high turnout in the European elections. “With their election in May, the citizens will decide on the future of Europe. More than ever, it is a question of showing attitude, assuming responsibility and strengthening the European idea of a united and free continent. As a thoroughly European company with roots in several countries in the heart of Europe, our airlines such as Lufthansa, Swiss, Austrian Airlines, Eurowings, Brussels Airlines and Air Dolomiti connect the countries of the continent with each other and Europe with the world. That is why Europe is so close to our hearts,” says Carsten Spohr, Chairman and CEO of Deutsche Lufthansa AG.

With 3,000 intra-European flights a day, Lufthansa Group Airlines’ aircraft take off and land in almost every European country. In addition to the “SayYesToEurope” special painting of the Lufthansa Airbus 320 with D-AIZG registration, the standard painting of all Lufthansa aircraft will also be changed in the future. In addition to the German flag, which is painted on the rear part of the aircraft fuselage alongside the registration of the aircraft, the European flag will also be on display in future.

The aircraft with the special motif is part of an overarching initiative that is also supported by Lufthansa. For years, more than half of Germans have not exercised their right to vote in elections to the European Parliament. This is why, under the motto “SayYesToEurope”, other companies, agencies and people from public life have joined forces with Lufthansa to motivate people to vote again.
